If you aren’t careful, it is easy to spend some serious cash at Disneyland. Tickets, hotels, food…it all adds up quickly! Below are some tips to help save money while visiting Disneyland.
1. Visit during off-season
Visiting Disneyland during off season won’t help you save on tickets but it will save you money on hotels and flights.
Off season times are:
- mid-September to mid-November
- mid-January through mid-March
- mid-April through mid-May

2. Skip the Souvenirs
I know, I know…you really want those cute Mickey ears and that awesome princess shirt…and you can have it! Just not at Disneyland. Buy all your Disneyland souvenirs before you go, so you won’t be tempted to pay for an overpriced shirt that you can buy at any regular store back home!
3. Pack Snacks
Disneyland food is so yummy, but also so expensive. Allow yourself one Disney treat a day and bring snacks for the rest of the time. Disneyland allows you to bring in small snack items that don’t need to be heated. This guideline should last you until you leave the park and find somewhere cheaper to eat outside the park.
4. Buy Discounted Tickets
Disneyland does not offer discounts, however, other approved third parties do. You can find authentic discounted Disneyland tickets from retailers such as Get Away Today for as much as $20 off per ticket!
Other discounts:
- Southern California residents get a discount on Disneyland tickets
- Military can purchase discounted tickets
- AAA members can receive discounted tickets at certain branches
- Disneyland employees receive 12% off of tickets and a certain number of free tickets per year
5. Stay Off Property
Disneyland hotels can break the bank, find a hotel off the Disneyland property but still within walking distance. Check out these 4 great hotels that surround Disneyland and will save you tons!
6. Buy Disneyland Gift Cards
A good tactic to not go over budget is to buy a Disneyland gift card and load it up for the day with a certain amount. Once you spent that amount, you’re done, that’s your limit for the day!
7. Don’t Buy the Park Hopper
The park hopper ticket allows you to visit both parks in the same day whenever you want. To save a little extra money, stick to one park for the whole day and the other park for the next day.
8. Buy an Annual Pass
If you are a frequent Disneyland goer, then this pass is for you. There are 3 different annual passes to choose from, all including benefits such as 10-15% of dining, 10-20% off merchandise, and more!
